Post-16 Dress Code

Smart office wear for all – this should not include leather or denim of any colour, nor trainer-type leisure shoes or Doc Martin-type boots. Caps/hats are not to be worn.

For girls:

  • smart trousers, skirts of reasonable length and subtle colour - just above the knee (no jogging bottoms, over-sized flares, or skirts with large splits)
  • blouses and tops – (no see-through, low-cut, short cut/cropped, luminous colours or with accentuated or inappropriate logos/wording)
  • smart shoes and, when worn, co-ordinated tights
  • jewellery, make up, hair style and colour in moderation (no exposed body piercing apart from earrings in moderation)

For boys:

  • smart shirt with collar and tie should be correctly worn
  • ARA tracksuit for learners on PE courses during Sport sessions
  • smart trousers
  • smart, polishable shoes
  • jewellery and hair style and colour in moderation (no exposed body piercing apart from earrings in moderation)

Post-16 students set the standards which aspiring learners in lower year groups will follow. Post-16 students are required to wear their ID badge visibly at all times when in the Academy.

Policy reviews

Our uniform regulations are reviewed annually; the review includes consideration of uniform items, supply, cost and value for money. Parents, students and staff are consulted regularly and no less frequently than every three years.
