Year 8s master coding in Heathrow Secondary School Coding Challenge
Year 8s took part in the Heathrow Secondary School Coding Challenge. Representatives from Learning to Work and Heathrow spent the day with our pupils, highlighting the importance of coding. The challenge involves 5 schools in each borough competing to win a tour of Heathrow Airport and a chance to meet employees at the airport.
The students had to build a robot using the Lego type pieces provided and use basic coding software to enable the robot to get to the end of the race track and navigate around the obstructions in the quickest time. The pupils demonstrated teamwork, trial and error and logic to code the robots, generating the speed, number of rotations and number of movements to get them from A to B.
Well done to our winning robots Dave, Fortnite and Sausages, who are in with a chance of making it to the finals in June, competing against 12 other schools.
