Inter-School Drone Workshop

Inter-School Drone Workshop

On 5th March, Saturday, 13 Alec Reed students collaborate with students from Hillcrest International School from Nairobi, Kenya for a drone programming workshop. It was an amazing experience where we learnt how to program drones to do tricks, draw shapes in the air and go through an obstacle course. The grand finale was to program the drones to fly in formation in a choreographed dance performance.

Although we had different ideas for how to program the drone we managed to collaborate and work really well with each other. The difficulties involved flying through hurdles including a hoop with unknown height as well as some gymnasium equipment. We presented our ideas to each other and helped each other to solve problems. The drone dance was a great collaboration. The students were extremely nice, friendly, and easy to get along with. Overall, this workshop was a wonderful experience as I learnt how to work with others and gain new knowledge of a field in Computer Science. It is defiantly an experience to remember.
