Primary pupil wins top prize in storytelling competition
Just before the Christmas break Year 13 Performing Arts toured a "Story Telling" performance to Willow Tree, Viking, Alec Reed and Downe Manor primary schools. As a support to the primary curriculum, Alec Reed Academy Post 16 pupils and Mr. Selby led pupils through a literacy workshop following the performance.
Primary schools were then invited to enter an "inter-primary" story telling competition on 21st March. Viking, Downe Manor and Alec Reed primary schools each provided six finalists. Stories had to be performed, without notes and be less than 3 minutes long. The quality of the stories produced and performed was fantastic and each of the 18 pupils did an amazing job of engaging and entertaining an audience of 200 pupils, parents and staff.
The top 6 places were shared between the three primaries, with Sanjar scooping the top prize of an Amazon Kindle tablet with a crime drama version of Little Red Riding Hood.
