What to expect
The Academy provides Job Descriptions and Person Specifications for all vacancies within the Academy. All advertisements state the full pay range relating to the post and the closing date. All vacancies are advertised as widely as possible and in appropriate publications.
We aim to ensure the best quality candidates are recruited on the basis of their merits, abilities and suitability for the position. Once we have received your application it will be reviewed by the shortlisting panel against the Essential criteria in the Person Specification. Should we wish to discuss your application with you further you will be invited to attend an interview.
We regret that we cannot directly contact all candidates if they have been unsuccessful in reaching interview stage. However, we are happy to provide feedback on applications on request. If you do not hear from us within three weeks of the closing date, then please consider that your application has not been successful on this occasion.
The interview process is an opportunity for us to get to know the person behind the application form and for you to see the Alec Reed and its staff for yourself.
Interviews for Teaching roles will normally take place over the course of a day. The selection process will vary depending on the role but will normally include a tour of the site and meet the department, and a Lesson Observation. Should this be successful then you will immediately attend a panel interview with the CEO & Principal; Curriculum Leader and Human Resources Manager.
If you are applying for a Middle Leader role, then you may also undertake a suitable Data Task. More senior roles will usually take place over a couple of days and include more extensive selection processes such as student panel, role play and presentation to Governors.
Non-teaching roles will vary in the format of their interviews but will normally include a relevant In-Tray or Data Task and panel interview with a member of the Leadership Team, Line Manager for the role and Human Resources Manager.
At Alec Reed we take our commitment to safeguarding very seriously. All candidates invited to interview will be asked to demonstrate their understanding of safeguarding to a member of staff who is trained in Safer Recruitment. It is an expectation that all candidates attending interview have read the Academy’s Child Protection Policy.
If you have a question during any stage of the recruitment process then please contact the HR Department either by email firstname.lastname@example.org, phone 0208 8414511 or by appointment come and visit us for a personal tour if you’d prefer.
